About the KRB 101

The KRB 101 gives complete engine protection and running-hour display in one unit. A four-digit display shows engine hours, and nine indication lamps show the state of the engine at a glance: Supply On, Battery Reversed, Fuse Open, Charge, Stop Solenoid On, Low LOP, High Temp, V-Belt Fail and Aux Trip / Emergency Stop.

It watches four fault inputs, shows fuse failure and has a built-in charge lamp for the charging alternator. On the back, heavy brass stud terminals take the battery, fuse, stop solenoid and alternator connections, with a plug-in terminal block for the sensor wiring.

Reverse battery indication and a reverse battery protection relay guard against wrong battery connections, a common cause of damage in the field. The LOP bypass timer avoids false trips during starting, the 70 Amp contact drives the stop solenoid without an extra relay, and the stop timer suits ES (Energised to Stop) solenoids. It works on 8 to 30 V DC and measures 144 × 100 × 72 mm.

What the technical words mean

LOP / LLOP
Low (Lube) Oil Pressure. If oil pressure falls too low, the engine is shut down before its bearings are damaged.
LOP bypass timer
Oil pressure is low for a few seconds while an engine starts. This timer ignores low oil pressure during that time so the engine is not stopped by mistake.
ES solenoid
Energised to Stop. A fuel solenoid that must be powered to stop the engine. The stop timer keeps it powered long enough for the engine to come to rest.
Charge lamp
A lamp that shows whether the engine’s battery charging alternator is working.
Fuse fail indication
Warns when the fuse protecting the safety circuit has blown, so the engine is never left running without protection.
V-belt fail
Warns when the engine’s V-belt, which drives the cooling fan and charging alternator, has failed.
Aux trip
A spare fault input that can be wired to any extra protection the engine needs, so the unit can stop the engine for it too.
Reverse battery protection
Protects the electronics if the battery is connected the wrong way round.
